HELLO, DEAR CARO, WELCOME BACK FROM YOUR TRIP! YOU TRAVELLED FROM THE ALLGÄU TO ELBA. WHAT SHOULD NOT BE MISSING FOR YOU AS A FAMILY ON THE PACKING LIST FOR A CAMPING VACATION?
Since we were travelling with our son, the fan and awning were very important for us. So we could protect him from hot temperatures and the nights were also a little quieter. Of course, it is important never to point the fan directly at the child, even in the compact camper van.
WHICH PLACE WILL STAY IN YOUR MEMORY IN A PARTICULARLY POSITIVE WAY - AND WHY?
Elba is a place we will remember for a long time. From cliffs and rocky beaches to sandy beaches, there really is something for everyone. We enjoyed this variety very much. At the same time, you have a great view of the sea and can watch impressive sunsets in the evening.
WAS THERE A PITCH ON YOUR ITINERARY THAT YOU WOULD RECOMMEND TO OTHER CAMPERS?
For us, the Tallinucci campsite on Elba was a super choice. In addition to the great view, we quickly took the typically Italian friendly staff to heart. Especially as travellers with baby, we also felt very comfortable due to the outstanding hygiene on the entire site. We would visit again.
WHAT FEATURE DID YOU LIKE BEST ABOUT YOUR CARADO?
We really liked both the pop-up roof and the rear doors. On the one hand, a light breeze always blew through the camper van, and at the same time you had a nice view out of the camper.
WHAT WERE THE ADVANTAGES OF A CAMPER VAN FOR YOU AS A FAMILY?
For us it was an ideal vacation vehicle. Three of us with a baby had enough space on our summer vacation. At the same time, the camper van is maneuverable and super to drive due to its compactness. And of course the vehicle length also affects the price of the ferry crossing.
WHAT DISH WAS YOUR FAVOURITE TO COOK DURING YOUR CAMPING VACATION?
Keep it simple: Pasta with capers and olives was our all-time favorite. Little effort and maximum taste - perfect for the camping kitchen.
AFTER YOUR "VACATION IN LIMITED SPACE," DO YOU HAVE SOME GOOD ADVICE ABOUT PACKING SMART?
When packing, I paid attention to box-shaped items and packaging. This made it easier to stow everything away. We rolled our clothes to save space. In addition, many campgrounds offer washing machines, so you can easily take less clothing and simply wash after a few days.
IT WAS YOUR FIRST CAMPING VACATION WITH A CHILD. DO YOU HAVE ANY TIPS FOR OTHER VACATIONERS TRAVELING WITH A BABY OR TODDLER?
The most important thing, especially when traveling to the south, is that the little ones really get little sun. We therefore deliberately opted for a pitch in the shade and provided indirect cooling through the fan. On the beach, we had a beach shell with us. For trips with baby and toddler I recommend a baby carrier. It weighs little and takes up hardly any space.
DID YOU HAVE CERTAIN ROUTINES OR A SET DAILY ROUTINE ON YOUR TRIP?
We made sure to have a certain routine, especially when it came to eating. We enjoyed both breakfast and dinner at the camper van. This gave the day a certain structure - for us as a family, this was important. In addition, our little motto on vacation was: "Always along the sea!"
