Ready for anything: The body of an alcove motorhome is made from durable glass fibre reinforced plastic (GRP) with aluminium side walls, and all come with a seven-year water ingress warranty. Any bulky items can be safely stowed away in the Carado motorhome’s huge rear garage.
Made for comfort: The living space boasts indirect lighting, hard-wearing seat covers on comfy furniture, and a whole host of handy little features, like USB sockets, energy-efficient LED lighting and ergonomically designed upholstery.
Sleep on clouds: Carado beds feature high-quality and super comfy mattresses, and the alcove beds can be pulled down, giving you an even greater sense of space. Safety nets on high beds ensure you feel safe and secure.
Smart cooking: Kitchens in alcove motorhomes are ergonomically designed and provide functional worktops for preparing food. They feature two-burner hobs, spacious drawers and fridges with freezer compartments.
Spa to go: Bathrooms either come with toilet and shower in the same unit or separate depending on the alcove model, but all bathrooms offer handy features such as large mirrors, recessed LED spot lights and cassette toilets.

An alcove motorhome is easily recognizable by its distinctive structure over the driver's cab, known as the "alcove." This structure extends over the roof, giving the motorhome its unmistakable silhouette. The forward-extending niche defines the appearance and increases the overall height of the vehicle.
Inside an alcove motorhome, you can expect a spacious feel. The alcove creates additional space that you wouldn't have in a motorhome of the same size. This structure offers cozy sleeping accommodations for up to two people without reducing the living area. This optimizes and extends the base structure of the motorhome, allowing you to enjoy more space and comfort on your journey.

When considering buying an alcove motorhome, there are several important aspects regarding weight that you should keep in mind. Without sufficient knowledge, you risk compromising your safety and facing fines. However, these risks can be easily avoided with the right information.
Ready-to-Drive Mass
This refers to the weight of the base vehicle with standard equipment, including a flat rate of 75 kg for the driver. For Carado alcove motorhomes (A-series), this weight ranges between 2707 and 3173 kg, depending on the model.
Technically Permissible Maximum Mass
This is determined by the manufacturer and indicates the maximum weight the vehicle is allowed to carry. For our alcove motorhomes, the technically permissible maximum mass is 3500 kg.
Alcove motorhomes offer more comfort and space due to their size and additional sleeping areas, making them ideal for families. However, this advantage results in a higher ready-to-drive mass compared to other types of motorhomes. By subtracting the ready-to-drive mass from the technically permissible maximum mass, you get the payload available for luggage and up to four passengers. For each of our motorhomes, you can find information on the ready-to-drive mass in the "Technical Data" section on the respective model page. Plan the available weight carefully before your trip. There is a tolerance limit of up to 5% for overloading. Despite this tolerance, you should be aware that overloaded motorhomes are more difficult to maneuver and control, which poses a safety risk.
Load Increase Options
For the Carado alcove series, there is an option to increase the technically permissible maximum mass to 3650 kg. This option can be selected when configuring your motorhome and is advisable if you plan to carry a lot of additional weight. Note the driving license requirements in this case.
In general, you can drive our alcove motorhomes with a standard car driving license. However, you should familiarize yourself with the conditions, especially if you plan to increase the weight of your alcove motorhome or if the ready-to-drive mass exceeds 3.5 tons.
With a Class B license, you can drive motorhomes with a permissible total weight of up to 3.5 tons. If your alcove motorhome is upgraded to over 3.5 tons, you will need a Class C1 license. With this, you can drive vehicles up to 7.5 tons.
Exception
If you obtained your driving license before 1999, you are permitted to drive a vehicle with a total weight of up to 7.5 tons with your Class B license.
