Hooray! It’s finally holiday time! Families particularly enjoy this time of year as it gives them much more free time, for both kids and couples. Is there anything better than discovering new places? Or rather, using the freedom your motorhome gives you to discover new places?

Arrive relaxed. Arrive relaxed.

There are a few things you should take into account when arriving and departing to ensure your holiday together in your little home on wheels is relaxing for everyone. It all starts with good route planning. Take it bit by bit. After all, the journey is just as important as the destination, especially if you’re travelling in a motorhome. Make sure you plan enough breaks. Stopping regularly will do both you and the little ones good.

And what would a break be without snacks? Picnic blanket out, sandwiches, fresh fruit and a few sweet goodies for everyone – and voilà! Everyone’s in good spirits. A treat for both big and small travellers.

Are you thinking about how you can make the journey as easy going for the kids as possible? We recommend choosing a departure time as far away from the usual rush hours as possible, even if it’s a bit hard. If you set off early in the morning, you’ll have nothing ahead but empty roads, plus the little ones can be placed in their seats still wearing their pyjamas. It’s almost like they start their holiday while they’re still in bed.

And when they wake up? All the new sights passing by outside are often enough to keep the kids entertained once they’re up, but if they get bored, you can offer to play games, watch films on your tablet or listen to gripping audio books. The road really is clear now for a stress-free journey to start your holiday.

Arrive safe. Arrive safe.

Your little passengers should not only be relaxed during the journey, but safe too. The general rule is that there can only be as many passengers as there are seatbelts. In addition, passengers should not get up and walk around the motorhome or use the toilet while it is in motion.

Children under 12 years old or shorter than 150 cm also need a suitable child seat for the motorhome, which may only be fitted to the seats permitted for this purpose. Such seats usually face forward. Following these general rules will ensure your loved ones always travel safely.

Carado motorhomes also provide a few extra child-safe features that come in handy when you’ve arrived at your destination, such as lift-up covers for plug sockets and safety nets for elevated bunk and alcove beds. The nets can be easily lifted up and secured in place, stopping sleepers from falling out and ensuring they can sleep safe and sound.
