Financing, using savings or a combination of both: many factors influence the total budget required. It is important to think about this before you buy so that you can set an initial framework and get an idea of what you can afford.
2. WHAT SIZE MOTORHOME?
Van? Camper van? Alcove? Partially integrated or integrated? There is a wide choice. Deciding on which vehicle size suits you depends on several things. For one thing, the number of people travelling with you. How many adults will be with you or are there children on board? It also depends on how many beds you need. You should also consider the necessary storage space, the size of the kitchen and the dining area. What is often forgotten: the load capacity is important for the luggage you take with you. If you don't want to take further driving tests, you should also check the vehicle data against your driving licence class.
3. TEST FIRST, THEN BUY
If you have never been on the road in a motorhome or camper van, you should take a test holiday beforehand. Only then can you be sure whether the camping lifestyle is something for you. It doesn't matter whether you prefer campsites or want to spend the night on pitches close to nature. Which equipment did you miss, and which did you particularly like? These insights help you to determine important purchase criteria before you buy and to choose your desired equipment and accessories appropriately.
4. WHERE DO YOU WANT TO GO?
Whether the vehicle should be designed more for manoeuvrability and speed, or must offer the largest possible living space, depends on your own ideas and preferences in terms of destinations and climate. And directly connected to this: do you want to camp mainly in summer or in winter, or do you prefer to be on the road flexibly all year round?
5. HOW MANY ACCESSORIES DO YOU NEED?
Awning? TV package? Large fridge? Ideally, think about what really makes sense before you buy. Equipment bought later also needs to be fitted and this usually requires the support of a trade partner.
