The first drive was exciting. Getting used to the driving experience was super quick and we immediately felt comfortable. At first, you hardly had the feeling that you were sitting much higher than usual. We got into the groove really quickly and there was hardly any difference to the car you drive every day at home, which is much smaller. We immediately became friends with our new home and were full of anticipation.
Limone sul Garda is incredibly idyllic and quaint. A super impressive place that you'll love exploring on foot. All the little houses and narrow streets are designed and built with so much love that it's incredible fun to look around. Seeing the mountains in the background of the architecture makes the positive feeling even more positive!
If you want an idyllic setting and don't place too much value on "perfect" sanitary facilities - then the Camping Park Garda in Limone is for you.
If you want both: The Camp by Maggiore suites in Maccagno.
If you value "everything in one place" (good sanitary facilities, super clean! Grocery stores, shopping, good food & ice cream in restaurants, etc.), lots of life & children on site, lots of things to do, then Union Lido Cavallino-Treporti.
If you want a lot of life - you should prefer larger campsites. Life in the sense that there is something going on everywhere - there are lots of children - you hear & see lots of people - which is not always due to "excessive" noise, but simply that you have lots of like-minded people around you, which can feel good.
If you like peace and quiet, you should prefer smaller, family-run campsites. We've done both and the former is definitely nicer with children. For us!
Everything you can do outside. For us, camping is a feeling. A different life that you live at home. A life outside in nature. Everything you do, you do outside. It's also special for small children.
Quick one-pot meals. Or anything the grill can produce. Sweet things too.
Freedom with children. That was the most important point for us. A car journey lasting hours in a confined space or a long stay at the airport was out of the question for us with two small children. So it was clear that with a motorhome we would have the greatest freedom, we would have our home right under our butts at every break and we could stay anywhere - if our planned journey was too long or we liked it better somewhere else.
In our motorhome there was a pull-down bed at the front and a large bed at the back. The four of us used the large bed at the back as a family bed. When it got too tight, mom slept with one child in the pull-down bed at the front, which was equipped with a fall protection guard on each side, making it safe for even the littlest ones to sleep.
A large tarpaulin - so you don't step on the bare ground when you're standing in front of the motorhome. A shower bag for each party - Ikea bags are best. Enough changes of clothes for EVERYONE! ALWAYS pack clothes for all weather conditions.
Get inspiration from packing lists - an experienced camper has already had all the experiences you will have and knows what you will need.
Live each day as it comes. Try to be flexible!
There is no bad weather, only bad clothing.
