Plasticfree Peaks x Carado

Gemeinsam für eine plastikfreie Natur.

Carado as a partner of the   CleanUP    days

Patron Plasticfree Peaks is an organisation from the Allgäu region that has made it its mission to get rubbish and plastic out of nature and the mountains in the Allgäu. In the meantime, the project is being implemented at Lake Constance, in the Black Forest and other areas in the German-Austrian Alpine region.  The idea is simple and sensible at the same time: reusable collection utensils are handed out, rubbish is collected together in teams or alone and nature is freed from it. These tours can be entered on a map on the Plasticfree Peaks website.

CleanUP Days – supported by Carado

Every year, several CleanUP Days take place in different regions. Here, teams collect rubbish together. In order to keep journeys to and from the CleanUP Days to a minimum and to support the organisational team on site, Carado provides a mobile home as a mobile office.

Carado in Action: Our CleanUP Day

Together we have achieved great things! We recently organized a CleanUP Day to make our surroundings in Leutkirch and the surrounding area even cleaner and greener. This CleanUP Day was carried out in collaboration with our cooperation partner Plasticfree Peaks.
In total, we formed four groups that travelled for about two hours to rid our nature of packaging, plastic and paper waste. Each participant received a CleanUP kit consisting of stainless steel tongs and a reusable trash bag. After the successful CleanUP tour, we spent the evening in good company and toasted to our joint achievement. Thanks to the support of Plasticfree Peaks and our dedicated team, we were not only able to do something good for nature, but also take a small step towards sustainability. A big thank you also to our great colleagues who got involved in CleanUP Day and to our partner Plasticfree Peaks.

Plasticfree Peaks in the interview

1. Travel & environment - are there any tips & tricks on how we can all make our motorhome travels a bit more environmentally friendly?:

On our rubbish collection tours, we always find a lot of rubbish that is linked to our consumption behaviour: food packaging, drinking bottles or cigarettes, beer coasters, etc.   Therefore, our first logical tip when travelling with the camper van would be to buy packaging-free at small local markets or, if it is unavoidable, to separate the waste directly so that not all of it ends up in the residual waste and some of it can be recycled.   A waste separation system in the motorhome would certainly be helpful.

2. A little insight into your packing list: What do you have with you in the camper van? What are your most important gadgets?

Our list looks like this:

  • Coffee maker for the perfect start to the day
  • CleanUP Kits
  • Mountain sports equipment
  • bicycles
  • Laptops and technical equipment like powerbanks (as we were sometimes without electricity for several days) for the mobile office
  • Lighter (for the gas cooker)

3. Your tours are not classic trips or holidays. Nevertheless, you will probably pass wonderful places. Do you have a top 3 in Southern Germany / Vorarlberg?

  1. 1.  The Black Forest was clearly top 1 and offers one or two great campsites, especially for motorhomes.

  2. 2. Top 2 was certainly the Gesäuse, with a great campsite right on the river.

  3. 3. Top 3 was the Montafon with its impressive mountains.
